I have problem with my inventory item code that starts with "0", when I choose auto generate item code then some items was generated with 0 at first character.
then after awhile the 0 (first letter of the code) was gone, then we cannot scan the barcode that we tape on the products because now the code was changed.
please help.

The code won't change unless modified. Please let me know the steps to test this.
Thank you - EHAnsweredAre you sure the 0 is gone from the product code inside the database or it is your scanner ? Because i had this issue too, but the problem was my barcode scanner remove the 0 when we scan the item. What i did to fix this was reset my barcode scanner to default setting

1. we use item code randomly generate ( some item code starts with 0)
2. then we print barcode label with the item code on the sticker with 0 at the first digit
3. we do some sales no problem
4. somedays we cannot scan the barcode anymore and we check
5. we saw that the 0 at the first digit on that item is gone that is why the barcode reader and the id of items lookup doesn't match
so that is my problem. my barcode scanner is reading everything no problem, but the item code was ignored 0 somehow.

5. From where is is gone? If you are saying from add/edit/list product, then you might have update the item. You can add it back by editing the item. If not product let me know from where? If you can post screenshots.

I don't have screenshot of when it was originally made but i have only when it is now.
the item is generated with 8 digit code but now it is only 7, and my barcode standard for all items is Code 128 it should be all same.
and one of my screenshot is the item that it has some 0 in the item code but when I edit or change any details --> the code still there --> so I think the problem that 0 number in at first digit of item code is not because of editing.
and normally we don't change item code, we keep it unique. - MSAnsweredIf the product was not edited, the code should not change :( I will need the steps to reproduce the issue.
- PVAnsweredas you can see if the item code was not automatically changed or cut or trimmed, why some items I have 7 digits and some are 8 digits and also even some items are just 5 digits, it drives me crazy all these.

- PVAnswered**[Mian Saleem](/u/saleem)** I don't know how can I reply to you to really open you mind and understand how I replicate the issue, because it just trimmed out my 0 at the front of my item code after awhile.
I have also mentioned 5 steps above, so please open you eyes and read it.
