Good day and happy new year.
The Return Tab use to do the following .
1 - return the items to warehouse
2- deduct the items sale prices from the customer's due balance and add a return invoice in - so the customer's balance will match.
after 3.4.40 the return tab only return the item without doing point no, 2 above.
Is there any error or you made it this way ?
Because this will not match the customer's balance at all as he returned the items but still the balance due is the same.
what to do ?

There is no change for return since v3.4.27
The return won't have any effect on the customer balance but you have the option to add payment for return.
This area needs improvements but I am still not sure how to manage this so will check in future updates.

If you try to add return from list sales page for any paid sale, the return page will have the option for payments.
If you are adding return from main menu, then there is no payment option.
For both returns, you will need to manually add the amount to customer deposit form list customers page.
